Nanjing International Expo Center (NIEC) conducted an emergency drill against safety accidents on June 23, under the arrangement of safety production activities by State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Nanjing Municipal Government. To further strengthen joint emergency response to sudden work safety accidents during crowded big exhibitions, the comprehensive emergency drill was expected to examine NIEC’s emergency response plans, train the staff, enhance the response mechanism and raise people’s awareness.

People can only be allowed to enter the center afterinformation registration, and checks on temperature and health code.

The drill was launched by State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Nanjing Municipal Government and Nanjing Hexi New Town Development and Construction Management Committee, organized by Nanjing Hexi New Town State-owned Assets Management Holdings Co.,Ltd. and Nanjing Hexi Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd., and jointly supported by Nanjing Fire Brigade, Health Commission of Jianye District, Emergency Management Bureau of Jianye District, and Shuangzha Police Station from Jianye Branch of Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau.

The drill was officially started at 9:00 am in Nanjing International Exhibition Center, when an exhibition booth got fire due to short circuits caused by overcurrent. The fire quickly spread; people run in panic; thebooth construction collapsed and buried someone inthe frantic evacuation. The fire also cut off the electricity of the elevator, causing some people trapped. What’s worse, some looters stole valuable exhibits amid the chaos.

On the outbreak of the accident, NIEC immediately started the Emergency Response Plan Against Fires DuringExhibitions, and motivated rescue staff to help evacuation and fire extinguishing. Forces of fire brigade, police station and health department came to rescue as soon as possible. Thanks to the effective responses, the fire was finally put out after 30-minute joint efforts.

According to the unified deployment of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Nanjing Municipal Government, Nanjing Hexi New Town State-owned Assets Management Holdings has paid much attention to safety production. Strictly implementing the responsibilities of the main leaders and the whole staff for safety production monitoring and control, NIEC also strives to reinforce the management system to improve the abilities of handling emergencies. The drill was both an experience and a challenge for NIEC, driving the center to secure safety production and hold excellentexhibitions.
